Authentic Time is built on a simple idea: great watches shouldn’t sit forgotten. We find them, bring them back to life, and make them yours.
Wow… what an incredible survivor this is.
This stunning Rotary Electro Gold Plated Swiss Made Gent’s Watch is quite simply like stepping back into 1997. Finding one of these is difficult enough, but finding one complete with its original Rotary presentation box, original guarantee booklets, spare links and even the original Argos purchase invoice dated 09/09/1997 is exceptionally rare.
The original purchase receipt shows this watch retailed at £129.00 in 1997 which was serious money for a dress watch at the time. When you consider the condition, originality and completeness of this set nearly 30 years later, this becomes a genuinely collectible vintage Rotary piece.
The classic two-tone steel and gold plated bracelet design gives this watch a timeless elegant appearance that still looks incredibly stylish today. The clean white dial with gold baton hour markers, date window and distinctive blue cabochon style crown creates a sophisticated understated luxury look that Rotary became famous for during this era.
This is a true “time capsule” example.
The watch retains its original bracelet currently sized at approximately 19cm and comes with spare links taking the fitment comfortably to over 20cm.
A superb opportunity to own a wonderfully preserved full set vintage Rotary with provenance and original sales history.
This watch is presented in very good vintage condition for its age and is an exceptionally honest original example.
The dial is beautifully clean and has aged wonderfully. The hands and hour markers remain in lovely condition and the watch has fantastic vintage wrist presence.
The case and bracelet show age related wear and surface marks consistent with careful use over nearly three decades. There is wear to parts of the gold plating around the bezel and bracelet as shown in the pictures, but importantly this has not taken away from the overall appearance and originality of the watch.
The bracelet clasp operates correctly and the watch is running well having been fully tested.
The original Rotary box, guarantee booklets, spare links and especially the original Argos purchase receipt massively elevate this watch from a standard vintage Rotary into a genuine collector’s piece.
